WESTMINSTER — City planners gave their blessing Thursday to an annexation request for 33 acres a Baltimore company wants to convert into a business park.
The Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval of the annexation petition, filed by National Instrument Co., a packaging machinery manufacturer and real estate developer.
The request now goes on to the City Council, which makes the final decision on annexation request. The council is not bound by the planning commission recommendation.
The parcel, known as the Poole property, is on the east side of Route 97 near the Carroll County Regional Airport. The 40-year-old company wants to develop the land into the Carroll County Commerce Center, which would house a mix of office, retail and warehouse space.
Also, the company is seeking a rezoning of the land from Restricted Industrial to Planned Industrial.
