Animal rights gain support

THE BALTIMORE EVENING SUN

By a margin of 2-to-1, callers to SUNDIAL disagreed with Evening Sun columnist Elise T. Chisolm, who yesterday argued that the medical benefits to humans far outweigh the rights of animals used in research and testing. She cited the discovery of insulin as an example.

Yesterday, 724 callers, or 67 percent of the 1,084 calls, voted in favor of the rights of animals, while 360 supported Chisolm's argument.

"It's Your Call" represents a sampling of opinions from certain segments of the community, but it is not balanced demographically, as would be done in a scientific public opinion poll.
