This is a weekly summary of selected prime contracts recently awarded by the federal government to companies and other vendors in Maryland.
Maryland contracts
W. M. Schlosser Co. Inc. in Hyattsville won a $16,984,000 contract from the Army to provide new construction and major additions to existing buildings or facilities.
Westinghouse Electric Corp. in metropolitan Baltimore won a $9,508,246 contract from the U.S. Air Force to provide technical analysis and support of the ground-based segment of the air defense system of the Royal Saudi Air Force.
Vitro Corp. in Silver Spring won a $4,266,375 contract from the Army to provide technical and project support services for the Army Worldwide Military Command and Control System Information Systems.
ANT Telecommunications in Gaithersburg won a $1,080,709 contract from the Army to supply electronic components.
Lexico Enterprises in Gaithersburg won a $116,900 contract from the Air Force to provide a license to copy software.
Defense research contract
Johns Hopkins University's Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel won a $1.538 billion contract from the Navy to provide research, development, engineering and technical services supporting tactical strategic systems, space science, geophysics, biophysics and microelectronics.
Non-defense contracts
Art Litho. Co. in Baltimore won a $740,041 contract from the Government Printing Office to provide book printing services.
EMD Mechanical in Rockville won a $627,000 contract from the General Services Administration to replace a cooling tower.
