* Coast Guard Seaman Apprentice Christopher C. Rothlingshofer, son of Charles B. and Sharon A. Rothlingshofer of Westminster, recently graduated from Coast Guard recruit training after attending the eight-week training at the Coast Guard Training Center, Cape May, N.J.

He joined the Coast Guard in November 1990.

* Marine Pvt. Douglas M. Waters has completed recruit training atMarine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.

During the 13-week training cycle, he was taught the basics of battlefield survival and the daily routine of enlisted personnel, and studied the Marines' professional standards.

The 1990 South Carroll High grad participated in an active physical conditioning program and gained proficiency in a variety of military skills, including first aid, rifle marksmanship and close order drill. Teamwork and self-discipline were emphasized during the training cycle.

* Navy Seaman Recruits Anthony S. Stone and Brandon M. Shirey have completed recruit training at Recruit Training Command, Orlando, Fla.

During their eight-week training cycle, they studied several military subjects designed to prepare themfor further academic and on-the-job training in one of the Navy's 85basic fields. Their studies included seamanship, close order drill, naval history and first aid. Personnel who complete this course of instruction are eligible for three hours of college credit in physical education and hygiene.

Stone is the son of John C. and Vera Stone of Westminster. The 1990 graduate of Westminster High School joined the Navy in October 1990.

Shirey is the son of Stephanie and Allen R. Shirley of Sykesville and a 1990 graduate of of Liberty High School.
