New voice to open Pimlico

THE BALTIMORE EVENING SUN

LAUREL -- The sound over the public-address system will be as new as the season when the spring race meeting begins at Pimlico on Thursday, March 14.

It will be the voice of Dave Rodman, Maryland's new race caller, its sixth since Dick Woolley's swan song in the fall of 1988. Woolley was the caller for 17 years.

Rodman, 32, has been the announcer at Louisiana Downs since October of 1984. His first race-calling job was at Jefferson Downs in Kenner, a New Orleans suburb, in 1981.
