Sister Mary Gustave


Sister Mary Gustave Finotti, S.S.N.D., 81, a retired primary school teacher who specialized in reading, died Wednesday in her sleep at Villa Assumpta, the motherhouse of her order.

A mass of Christian burial was being offered today in the chapel of Villa Assumpta, 6401 N. Charles St.

Sister Gustave had lived at the motherhouse since she retired.

From 1954 until 1982, she taught first, second or third grade at St. Mary's School at Bryantown in Charles County, then tutored there for two years.

In the 1939-1940 school year, she taught at St. Leo's School in Baltimore. After 1983, she taught in Roxbury, Mass., and Camden, N.J.

She was born Ellen Finotti in Washington and attended parochial elementary and business schools there and worked in Washington for the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Co.

Survivors include a sister, Frances Mudd of Sacramento, Calif., and several nieces and nephews.
