HERNDON, Va. -- Reserve rookie running back Brian Mitchell suffered a sprained ankle after returning to workouts with the Washington Redskins yesterday.
Mitchell, who had been visiting his father, who is recovering from fTC a heart attack, is likely to miss tomorrow's game against the Indianapolis Colts.
The Redskins are likely to activate veteran running back Gerald Riggs, who has been on the injured-reserve list with a sprained arch but has run well in practice all week.
Coach Joe Gibbs said he'll decide today whether to activate Riggs, who has missed five games since suffering the injury against the Philadelphia Eagles.
The only backup running backs on the active roster are Reggie Dupard and Kelvin Bryant, who is used mostly on third-down passing situations.
Defensive lineman Markus Koch remained sidelined with a knee injury and is likely to be inactive for the game. Fred Stokes is expected to start in his place.
