Caps recall defenseman Felix

The Washington Capitals recalled defenseman Chris Felix from the Baltimore Skipjacks yesterday, and he joined the National Hockey League team in St. Louis for its game against the Blues last night.

Felix, who had four goals and 24 assists in 27 games with the Skipjacks, is a power-play specialist. He was called up by the Capitals to replace Mikhail Tatarinov, who suffered a knee injury in Wednesday night's game against the Chicago Blackhawks. This is Felix's third stint with Washington this season.

Center Rob Murray finished his two-week reconditioning assignment with the Skipjacks yesterday. Murray must be recalled by the Capitals or go through waivers. He had four assists in seven American Hockey League games.

Two injured Washington players, defenseman Neil Sheehy (ankle) and goalie Jim Hrivnak (knee), skated in practice with the Skipjacks yesterday. Sheehy, who suffered a broken ankle during training camp, said he hopes to play after the first of the year, and Hrivnak, out two weeks with a strained knee, said he is ready to play when the doctor gives him the OK.
