Allstate to lease White Marsh project


Construction has begun of an 18,000-square-foot office building in White Marsh that will be leased to Allstate Insurance Co.

Nottingham Properties Inc. and Cafferty Development Corp. of McLean are developing the project at 8009 Corporate Drive in the White Marsh Business Community.

The single-story structure will be brick with extensive reflective glass. Project architect is Nooralian, Nelson and Associates of Lanham. Nottingham Construction Co. is the builder.

Allstate has a long-term contract to fully lease the building. It will open a regional office when construction is completed in the spring.

Jones, senior vice president and director of marketing for Nottingham Properties. "We are pleased to be involved in such an important project as this for Allstate. It fits perfectly into the 30-acre environment we are creating for customized development such as this."

Nottingham recently won a National Association of Industrial Office Parks award of excellence for its American Cancer Society Building in the White Marsh Business Community.

The project, which was designed by Nichols Architects, received the top prize in the build-to-suit category. It also won top honors from the state chapter of the office park organization.

The Dome Corp.'s Hopkins Bayview Research Campus in East Baltimore was named top project in the office/research and development category. The project was designed by RTKL.

Riparius Development Corp.'s Atrium Building on Padonia Road in Timonium, designed by Cochran, Stephenson & Donkervoet, won the award for renovations.

Cabot & Forbes' Marley Neck Industrial Park, designed by Robert T. Hofmann and Associates, took top honors in the warehouse category.

Manekin Corp. won the high-rise office building category for its 18-story Bank of Baltimore Building, designed by RTKL.

The best low-rise office building was 10010 Junction Drive in Annapolis, developed by Emory Hill Development with Nichols Architects.

The Rouse Co.'s Corporate Center at Owings Mills took the top honors at the multi-building office complex category. The Manekin Corp. was recognized for best research and development technical building category with its Gateway Crossing 95 in Columbia.

The Baltimore Gas & Electric Co.'s Marketing and Energy Services Facility on Windsor Boulevard received top award for interior design.
