Warren E. Hubbard


Warren E. Hubbard, 65, a retired teacher who did communit work, died Monday of cancer at the Liberty Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at noon tomorrow at the Sharon Baptist Church, Presstman and Stricker streets.

Mr. Hubbard, who lived on Powhatan Avenue, retired nine years ago after nearly 30 years as an English teacher at Dunbar High School.

A member of the board of Fayette House, a halfway house for men recovering from alcoholism and other chemical dependencies, Mr. Hubbard also was a member of the Hiram Grand Lodge of the Masons, the Five and Five Democratic Club and a social club, the Gladiators.

He also was chairman of the scholarship program of the Fulton Baptist Church.

Born in Stowe Creek, N.J., he graduated from the Bridgeton (N.J.) High School and served in the Army during World War II before moving to Baltimore. He was a graduate of Morgan State University.

Survivors include his wife, the former Georgeanna Jones; a son, Keith Hubbard of California; a daughter, Robin Khailf of New Jersey; two sisters, Laura Aldrich of Philadelphia and Marion Wynder of Bridgeton; and a brother, Chauncey Hubbard of Union City, Calif.
