Head coach: Colleen Stauffer (third season)
Assistants: Don Dzambo and Rick Rodgers
1989-1990 record: 7-15, lost to Old Mill in region quarterfinals.
Returnees: Seniors Kelly Wagner (forward-center), Christy Hutson (forward-center) and Erica Adams (guard); junior Lee Mallonee (forward); sophomores Melissa Schaffer (forward), Kelly Rodgers (guard) and Jessica Pearce (guard).
Newcomers: Seniors Allison Bigley (guard), Jennifer Bartlett (forward), Kara Daniels (forward) and Mona Hapnes (forward); juniors Jennifer Hamby (guard) and Jennifer Roth (forward).
Coach's outlook: "We're young and we make a lot of young mistakes.
However, there are good flashes with these kids. We don't know quite what to expect. We're real pleased with the attitude and with the hustle. They were not pleased with the results of last season and most of these girls are back. They feel they have something to prove to the rest of the league, that we can be a winner. And I think we can."
Anne Arundel County Sun outlook: Glen Burnie's biggest drawback is its lack of size. The tallest players -- 5-9 Schaffer, Wagner and Roth -- will be overmatched inside and must rely on the fundamentals of rebounding being taught by the Gophers' coaching staff. This team won't score a lot of points, so defense and intensity are necessary ingredients in every game.
Glen Burnie will be competitive in most games and has a good shot at garnering one of the final playoff berths.
