THB, Banditos, Wayward and more confirmed for Cosmic Cocktail!

Head coach: Jim Morton (13th season)

Assistant coaches: Barbara Briggs and Ron Price

1989-1990 record: 10-12, lost to Great Mills in the region quarterfinals.

Returnees: Senior Vivi Pearson (center); juniors Bea Ulrich (guard), Collette Marquis (guard), Tracy Zettle (guard-forward) and Petty Schreiber (guard).

Newcomers: Sophomore Erin Early (guard); freshman Pam Patterson (center).

Coach's outlook: "I don't have any great size and we're not a potent scoring team. We only averaged 36 points per game last year and my three shooting players from that team have graduated. We're young and we have a ways to go. We're going to have to take advantage of our quickness with pressure. Our defense is in pretty good shape. Our success will be measured more so in terms of our development than in terms of wins and losses.

However, working to make the playoffs is always a goal."

Anne Arundel County Sun's outlook: All five of the returning players received a decent amount of playing time last year, but the Seahawks are inexperienced. The point guard slot is the most critical position in Morton's offensive scheme. How quickly Ulrich (5-4) develops in her role as the offensive director will go a long way in determining whether the rest of the Seahawks can fall in line. Pearson, who is 5-7, will be burdened with dictating the inside game, unless freshman Patterson springs to life down the stretch. South River's chances of returning to the playoffs aren't as promising as last year.
