Malones' 66 lead Jazz over Bullets, 135-101


SALT LAKE CITY -- The Utah Jazz had a 22-2 lead before the Washington Bullets had a chance to break a sweat and rolled to a 135-101 victory last night. The point total was a season high for Utah.

Karl Malone and Jeff Malone combined for 66 points with season-high totals. Karl Malone had 38 points and 15 rebounds, and former Bullet Jeff Malone had 28 points and seven rebounds.

"I wanted to beat these guys," said Jeff Malone. "It's a new experience to come out and play in front of a packed house."

Washington's leading scorer, Bernard King, started slowly and finished with a team-high 24 points after going scoreless in the first quarter.

Utah has taken seven straight from the Bullets. Washington last nTC beat the Jazz, 118-113, in February 1987 a in Utah. The Bullets have lost six straight on the road and are 1-8 overall away from the Capital Centre.

By the time Washington scored its second basket, with 6 minutes, 49 seconds to play in the first quarter, Karl Malone had 10 points and John Stockton five.
