EL PASO, Texas -- Henry Hall scored 19 points to lead the University of Texas-El Paso over visiting Coppin State, 71-56, yesterday.
Coppin (0-3) shot 33.1 percent from the field, compared with UTEP's 52.0, and made just two of 13 three-point attempts.
Coppin failed to score for the first 13 minutes, 19 seconds of the second half. During the stretch, UTEP built on its 13-point halftime advantage, scoring nine straight points to put the game out of reach.
The Eagles were led by Reggie Isaac, who scored a game-high 22 points, and Larry Stewart, who had 19 points and 15 rebounds.
Coppin, looking for its first win of the season, will return home to play UMBC on Saturday.
