Pritam S. Bhutani Civil engineer


Services for Pritam Singh Bhutani, a civil engineer with the Army Corps of Engineers, will be held at 11 a.m. today at the MacNabb Funeral Home, 301 Frederick Road, Catonsville.

Mr. Bhutani, 53, died Thursday after a heart attack at his home on Hickory Spring Road in Catonsville.

The native of Lyallpur, now part of Pakistan, was reared in Amritsar, India, and was a graduate of the Guru Nanak Engineering College in Ludhiana, India.

After moving to Washington in 1963, when he began working for the Army, he earned a bachelor's degree at Howard University and a master's degree at Catholic University.

In the late 1960s, he was transferred to the Baltimore office of the Corps of Engineers.

He was a founder of the Sikh Association of Baltimore, and he did volunteer work for the Guru Nanak Foundation of America in Silver Spring, a religious organization.

He is survived by his wife, Surinder Kaur; a son, Kawalpreet Singh of Catonsville; a daughter, Surpreet Kaur of Catonsville; three brothers, Joginder Singh of Gaithersburg and Mohinder Singh and Horinder Singh, both of Amritsar; and three sisters, Mohinder Kaur of Rohtak, India, Jai Kaur of Amritsar and Surjit Kaur of New Delhi, India.
