STORE CLERK FOILS ROBBERY ATTEMPT

A clerk working at a Glen Burnie convenience store thwarted an armed robbery attempt Thursday night when he tried to grab the suspect's gun.

Police said that at about 7:50 p.m., a man in his early 20s walked into the High's Store in the 600 block of Old Mill Road, displayed a gun and told the employee it was a holdup.

The clerk tried to grab the gun, which still was stuffed in the suspect's waistband, police said. The suspect ran out of the store without getting any money, police said.

MAN ESCAPES INJURY AFTER 35-FOOT FALL

A Silver Spring man suffered only minor injuries Tuesday after falling three stories from a building that is under construction in the Annapolis area.

Christ Romero, a construction worker who was working on a building in the 700 block Bestgate Road, apparently lost his balance and fell 35 feet to the ground.

He was flown by State Police helicopter to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center at University Hospital in Baltimore for observation. The police report said paramedics stated they saw no serious injuries.

A spokesman at Shock Trauma said she had no record of Romero being admitted.
