Dr. Harry Bloom Sr.

Dr. Harry E. Bloom Sr., 81, a retired ophthalmologist, died Friday at Meridian Long Green Nursing Home after a short illness.

Services were held yesterday at the Ruck-Towson funeral establishment, 1050 York Road.

Dr. Bloom was born in Beaver Falls, Pa., the son of Aaron and Hilma Bloom. He graduated from Geneva College near Pittsburgh in 1930 and received his doctorate in ophthalmology from Johns Hopkins University Medical School in 1934. After a residency at Baltimore City Hospitals, he entered private practice in downtown Baltimore in 1937.

In 1936, he married Audrey M. Forster of Baltimore. The couple lived in Towson. She died in January.

Dr. Bloom moved his practice to Towson in the late 1950s and retired in 1974. He enjoyed gardening, swimming and reading.

Survivors include two sons, Harry E. Bloom Jr. of Timonium and Dr. William Bloom of Macon, Ga.; and four granddaughters.
