Glyndon man surrenders, charged in fatal beating

A bail review hearing in District Court was scheduled today for a man who has been charged in the death of another man who was found severely beaten on the parking lot of a Reisterstown bar Thursday, Baltimore County police said.

James Kevin Malone, 29, of the 100 block of Butler Ave. in Glyndon, surrendered Saturday afternoon, police said. He was charged with first-degree murder and was being held without bail at the Garrison Precinct lockup.

According to police, Ronald Nelson Cardwell, 41, of the 4700 block of Bonnie Brae Road near Randallstown, was found by an officer about 10:45 p.m. Thursday on the parking lot of the Fifteen Mile House in the 11500 block of Reisterstown Road.

Police said Cardwell had been severely beaten about the head. He was pronounced dead shortly after 5 a.m. Friday at Carroll County General Hospital. An autopsy was scheduled for today.

Witnesses told police they saw Cardwell and an unidentified man leave the bar together.
