Carrie Fisher says mom in 'Postcards' isn't hers
While Carrie Fisher's movie "Postcards From the Edge" may be a roman a clef of sorts about her own drug use and hard time growing up in Hollywood, Ms. Fisher wants it known that the film's tempestuous, boozy mother is not based on her real mom, Debbie Reynolds.
"Mother and I read the screenplay page by page when I was writing it," Ms. Fisher told the Dallas Morning News. "She is a bit disturbed that people might think she drinks. Mother does not drink, and some of the inside show-biz stuff simply came from my own knowledge. If anything, I have the same addictive nature that my father [crooner Eddie Fisher] has. He just got out of rehab himself."
No glass bowls for Debra Winger
Debra Winger waxed romantic in Vanity Fair about her seven-year off-again, on-again affair with former Nebraska governor Bob Kerrey, but also said she doesn't have the slightest interest in making her home in Washington.
"If I wanted an aquarium, I would've bought one and lived in it," she said of the political wife's lot. "That's why I don't have any problems seeing other men." Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys is suing a law firm for $100 million, contending it helped A&M; Records defraud him of the publishing rights to hits, including "Good Vibrations."
The lawsuit, filed Monday in Los Angeles Superior Court, accuses Irell & Manella of Century City, Calif., of fraud and negligence, said Mr. Wilson's lawyer.
The lawsuit contends a lawyer with Irell & Manella, which does legal work for A&M;, sent Mr. Wilson a document to sign that claimed Mr. Wilson had signed away song rights through previous agreements, the lawyer said.

Chris Rock, 23, and Chris Farley, 26, a former Second City trouper, are the two new members of the "Saturday Night Live" cast introduced at a news conference Tuesday in New York. Mr. Rock and Mr. Farley are replacing Jon Lovitz and Nora Dunn.
