Alexandra Patterson GBMC volunteer chief


A memorial Mass for Alexandra Rose Patterson, who was director of volunteers at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center for 21 years, will be held at 11:30 a.m. tomorrow at the Shrine of the Sacred Heart, 5800 Smith Ave. in Mount Washington.

Mrs. Patterson, who was born in Baltimore, died Friday of cancer at her home at the Elkridge Estates, in the 6000 block of Roland Avenue. She was 69.

Before her marriage to Paul Jarvis Patterson in 1944, she was a reporter on the staff of the Sunday Sun and, later, the society editor for that paper.

Mr. Patterson died in 1975.

Mrs. Patterson joined the staff of GBMC when the hospital opened in October 1965.

Mrs. Patterson is survived by two daughters, D'Arcy Patterson Slagle and Cynthia Patterson Lochte, both of Baltimore; a son, Paul Chenery Patterson of Baltimore; a brother, Richard Contee Rose of Columbus, Ohio; three sisters, Anne Pinckney Weatherley of Baltimore, Nina Rose Maulsby of Fort Myers, Fla., and Claudia Rose Fielding of Baltimore; and four grandchildren.
