A 48-year-old man was arrested after a short pursuit in connection with the Thursday morning burglary of a Glen Burnie hardware store, according to Anne Arundel County police.

Officers from the Eastern District responded to an Ace Hardware store in the 7900 block of Crain Highway at approximately 3:30 a.m. Thursday and noticed Richard Scott Rotramel of Glen Burnie leaving the store's parking lot in a Chevy Cavalier, police said.

Rotramel refused to stop, so officers followed the vehicle, according to police. The suspect exited the car after a brief period of time and attempted to run away, but he was caught by officers, police said.

Several items from the store, including power tools, were recovered in Rotramel's vehicle, police said.

Rotramel was transported to the Northern District police station. He is charged with second-degree burglary, theft under $1,000, destruction of property and resisting arrest, police said.
