Sandy Oxx

54, Executive director, Carroll County Arts Council Every Easter season, Sandy Oxx conducts the most wholesome kind of "Peep Show" imaginable. As the executive director of the Carroll County Arts Council, she's responsible for the unique fundraiser, which features works constructed from the marshmallow treats. This year, entries included sugary versions of Big Bird, Bart Simpson and even Honey Boo Boo -- and earned screen time on NBC's "Nightly News." Oxx and the council's efforts to keep Carroll creative include hosting plays, summer camps, concerts, family movies and other exhibits. The group this year celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Carroll Arts Center, its home at a converted movie theater in Westminster. But the push for the new and creative continues. "We continually must change and re-invent ourselves to remain relevant to the community," Oxx said. "If we don't stay fresh, we will wither and die." -- L'Oreal Thompson
