An 80-year-old Laurel woman died Jan. 2 from injuries she suffered in a New Year's Day fire in her home on Carriage Hill Drive, county fire officials said.
Prince George's fire officials said it appeared the woman accidentally set her couch on fire, then extinguished the flames. She was burned over nearly half of her body in the Jan. 1 fire, officials said.
Laurel Police Chief Richard McLaughlin said Jan. 6 that the woman's name would be released after her immediate family had been notified of her death.
