A team of seven Bond Mill third graders has earned a spot to compete in the Destination Imagination Global Finals to be held May 19-23 in Knoxville, Tenn., by placing first and second in the regional and state competitions, respectively. Destination Imagination is an extramural, creative problem-solving activity, which fosters creativity, technical skills, cooperation and teamwork. For its central challenge, team DI-Know-Might was required to create a solution based on a sound machine, which had to be researched, designed and built by the team. The sound machine was required to make two distinctive sounds. The team also had to create two visual displays of sound and create a story featuring their sound machine, including all props and costumes. DI central challenges have to be staged and presented in less than eight minutes, which adds an extra degree of difficulty.
