Giving spirit guides Bond Mill students [West Laurel]

Bond Mill Elementary leads the way with remembering what the holidays are all about: The spirit of giving. The students, families and staff remembered the children and families who survived Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. The GOLD students and student council worked together to bring awareness to the school with Holiday Hope for Victims of Haiyan. The students were generous with their donations of change that totaled almost $500, and hoped to make a small difference aiding the suffering people of the Philippines

Two Bond Mill students, Alexander and Anderson Lambert, visited Laborie, St. Lucia, where their father was born. They were surprised and disappointed to see that the children's library had scarcely any books on the shelves at all. They considered what they might do to help and have asked the other children at Bond Mill to donate any new, or used in good condition, children's books [nursery school age to 12th grade]. A donation box was placed in the hallway and has been filled up many times so far, collecting about 1,000 books. The Lambert family will send all of these books to St. Lucia to fill the bare library shelves.
