Laurel Board of Trade offers Trick or Treat on Main Street

The Laurel Board of Trade's annual Trick or Treat on Main Street is scheduled Thursday for 6 to 8 p.m.

Held annually the Thursday before Halloween, costumed children can visit participating Main Street merchants who will be handing out treats. Children 12 and under should be accompanied by an adult.

Main Street will be open for traffic, but drivers should anticipate traffic restrictions in the vicinity of Main Street.

City officials suggested these precautions for those participating in Trick or Treat on Main Street:

• Pedestrians should cross the street only at crosswalks;

• Children should have flashlights or glow sticks as part of their costume;

• Select costumes that are flame retardant and avoid billowing or long, trailing fabric;

• If wearing a mask, make sure the eye holes are large enough to allow for clear vision;

Certified service animals are permitted at Trick or Treat on Main Street, but no other pets are allowed.

City officials have designated Halloween trick or treating for 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31. Participating homes should turn on a porch light to indicate that trick-or-treaters can knock on their door.
