Laurel police charge suspect in KFC assault

A Laurel man has been arrested and charged in a December assault at a KFC where he allegedly beat a customer who suffered facial fractures, Laurel police said Thursday.

Lecory Demetrius Turner, 29, of Riverview Court, faces first- and second-degree assault charges in connection with a Dec. 22 incident at the restaurant in the 300 block of Washington Boulevard.

According to police, Turner assaulted the victim from behind after he paid for his food and as he was leaving. Police said he struck the victim in the head, causing him to fall, and then struck the victim while he was on the ground.

The victim suffered a broken nose, several cuts and a fractured orbital bone.

Turner fled the store, and nothing was taken from the victim, police said.

Police said Turner was arrested and charged on Wednesday.

Also Thursday, police said that Odell Robinson, of Lanham, was arrested and charged in a burglary of the same KFC in August.

Robinson, who is accused of stealing a cash register and fleeing on foot, faces a second-degree and theft charge.

He was arrested on Tuesday, Jan. 6.
