The Laurel Police Department will conduct a sobriety checkpoint on Friday, Aug. 23, from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m., in the 100 block of northbound Route 1.
According to city officials, the periodic sobriety checkpoints are held to raise public awareness and inform citizens about the efforts that are being used to identify and apprehend impaired drivers.
