Deerfield Run Community Center is hosting Family Fun Day on Saturday, May 21 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Activities planned include roller skating, various games, face painting and arts and crafts. All ages are welcome to participate in this free activity. On Friday, May 20, DRCC will be the site of a Family Free-Throw competition. Teens and families can participate in the competition. Participating adults must be over 25 and be accompanied by at least one youth in the competition. Also on tap at the center are Board and Video Game Night on May 21 and 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament on Friday, May 27. The Saturday activities are scheduled for 7-10 p.m. Youth between the ages of 10 and 17 are welcome. Admission is free with a valid Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission ID. On Sunday, May 27 Our Savior Lutheran Church, 13611 Laurel-Bowie Road, has scheduled an International Celebration starting at 12:30 p.m. Festivities include a youth variety show and international pot luck. Please bring a dish to share. Call 301-776-7670 for details. The church also sponsors a weekly Grief Share meeting for those experiencing the death of a loved one. Crafters are wanted for the St. Nicholas Craft and Vendor Fair scheduled for Saturday, June 4, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Nicholas Church, 8603 Contee Road. As part of Prince George's County's Spring Into Motion celebration of National Physical Fitness and Sports Month, Montpelier Arts Center offers two yoga-inspired events. On Friday, May 20 from 7-8:30 p.m., relax and center yourself with the Yoga and Jazz combination. Combine yoga positions with great jazz music to shed all the cares of the work week. On Saturday, May 28, from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m., experience the Art of Yoga amid the beautiful art work at the center. For both yoga events, wear comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat. Speaking of movies, the Laurel-Beltsville Senior Activity Center will show "Diamonds are Forever" on Thursday, May 26 from 10 a.m.-noon.
Registration is now open for classes, events and trips at the center. Some of the activities planned include billiards, ceramics, personal trainer sessions, Spanish Tai Chi and watercolor painting.
