Laurel Police reward teens with Slurpee 'tickets'

The Laurel Police Department will reward positive behavior with free Slurpees this summer through 7-Eleven's Operation Chill program.

Officers who observe youngsters exhibiting positive behavior, described by Laurel Police officials as helping another person, deterring crime or participating in a positive community activity, will be "ticketed" with a coupon for a free small Slurpee drink.

"Laurel Police officers are constantly on patrol in the community," Chief Rich McLaughlin said in a release. "Community well-being and crime prevention takes a team effort and our young people are an integral part of that equation."
