With an eye on the threat of severe weather this afternoon, Prince George's County Public Schools officials have canceled today's after-school activities, including sports practices. Aftercare, however, is not canceled and will be provided as regularly scheduled.
Earlier today, the National Weather Service issued a tornado watch for parts of Maryland, including Prince George's County. The watch was canceled in Howard County but remains in effect in Anne Arundel and Prince George's counties through 5 p.m. tonight.
A tornado watch is issued when local weather conditions are favorable for tornados or severe thunderstorms.
