You may have decided to pick up on a hobby you laid aside long ago.
If you have always enjoyed singing and can follow music from a score, you may be looking for a venue to share your talents. Choral music enthusiasts are invited to join the Central Maryland Chorale. The group's artistic director, Monica Otal, and assistant director and accompanist Dr. Theodore Guerrant have plans for several events in the upcoming spring.
Along with showcasing their talented group singing "Carmina Burana," by Carl Orff, plans are in the works for a Spring Fling and Silent Auction in March, which will feature music from Gilbert and Sullivan, including a medley from H.M.S. Pinafore.
Rehearsals are held on Monday evenings from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., at Laurel Presbyterian Church, 7610 Old Sandy Spring Road. For more information, visit the group's website at centralmarylandchorale.com or call 240-478-7952.

If you are wondering what to do with your Christmas tree, and are a city resident, the answer is an easy one. Position the tree where you would normally put your recyclable trash. The Department of Public Works started picking up the withering trees on Wednesday, Jan. 7, and will do so every Wednesday during the month of January. Do not wrap your tree in plastic. Have your tree curbside by 7 a.m.
If you like to "do-it-yourself" when it comes to maintaining your vehicle, you may not know that Public Works has recycling containers for used oil and antifreeze.
