Neighbor Ride has been selected as the only finalist from Maryland in the fifth annual Tom's of Maine 50 States for Good community giving program, which seeks to uncover local nonprofit groups that address community needs and engage volunteers to get the work done. With its team of more than 340 volunteer drivers, Neighbor Ride is dedicated to enhancing seniors' health and quality of life by providing transportation for day-to-day needs, including healthcare appointments, religious services, social outings and fitness activities.
Neighbor Ride has a chance to win $10,000 to grow its volunteer-based program, through a public vote at 50StatesforGood.com. Supporters of Neighbor Ride can help by voting for Neighbor Ride once a day through Oct. 15.
Since services began in 2004, Neighbor Ride volunteers have coordinated and provided more than 75,000 trips, helping local seniors remain active, independent and connected to the community.
