The Laurel Historical Society is continuing the "Lost Laurel" theme of this year's museum exhibit for its annual holiday open house.
Among the items for sale in the Laurel Museum shop are copies of Richard Friend's book, "Lost Laurel: Revisiting the vanishing retailers of Laurel, Maryland," the inspiration for the museum's current exhibit, "Lost and Found Laurel." The museum's latest installment to its holiday ornament series, which features the Lost Laurel logo from the exhibit, will also be on the shop's shelves.
The holiday open house will be held Friday and Saturday, Dec. 5 and 6, from10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; and Sunday, Dec. 7 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Laurel Museum, 817 Main St. As part of the open house weekend, author Faye Greene will sign copies of her new book, "Gertie," which is set in Laurel, on Sunday at noon in the Municipal Pool meeting room at Ninth and Main streets.
The museum shop also sells Laurel-themed gifts, jewelry made locally, kitchen textiles and wood toys. Other ornaments from the museum's series will also be on sale.
Wreathes created by members of Laurel's Snow Hill Garden Club will be available by pre-ordering only. Wreathes are $30; deadline to order is Nov. 28.
