Consider West Arundel Swim Club for family summer fun [Maryland City]

Hard to believe it, but summer is almost here! What are the plans for your family and children this summer? Did you know that there is a large, family pool and recreational area located within Maryland City just waiting for your family to join in the fun? The pool is open from the Saturday before Memorial Day until Labor Day (114 days) and most days it is open from noon until 9 p.m.

Every year people debate the cost of joining the West Arundel Swim Club, located at 259 Old Line Ave. So let's talk about that cost and what the club has to offer. The facility offers a large pool with a low and high dive area, a wading pool for ages 6 and under, a playground area, a picnic pavilion, grills for the members' use, picnic tables, lounge chairs, a volleyball court and a basketball court.Everything you need to keep you and your children occupied all day long during the summer. The staff members are professionally trained individuals including a number of school teachers, coaches and college students.

There is always something going on. If you stop by one afternoon, you are likely to find some of the children playing kickball in the field or modified volleyball, some may be under the pavilion doing arts and crafts projects and many may be joining a game of sharks and minnows in the pool. The staff is always involved in what the kids are doing. Sounds like a great summer camp, doesn't it? The only difference is cost.

Comparing costs of local summer camps, I found that a family membership for the entire summer at the West Arundel Swim Club runs about the same as a local summer camp for one child for two weeks.Which do you think is a better deal? Two weeks for one child or 16+ weeks for the entire family? Family membership plans are available for as low as $420.And, new family memberships also receive free swim lessons for one session for every child in the family. This is something extremely important as Anne Arundel County recently reported that only 23 percent of Anne Arundel fifth-graders can pass a swim test.
