Will Phil's shadow prediction delay spring soccer season? [Maryland City]

Groundhog Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow Feb. 2, so that means six more weeks of winter. Let's hope that it is not true, because the Mustang County Travel Soccer teams will play the first games of the spring season the weekend of March 20-22 and the Mini-Kicks Soccer program will start games the end of March, weather permitting. If you did not register your kids for soccer, most teams are full, but you can check for an opening with Commissioner John Venit by sending an e-mail to dpws@aol.com.

If soccer is not your thing, then you might think about Mustang Baseball. In order to start baseball season, the Maryland City Recreation Council needs players to register and the baseball season will start in April. You will need to register before the end of February to reserve your spot on a baseball team. If your child (boy or girl) age 4 and over is interested in baseball, please contact John Venit at dpws@aol.com.

Members of the Maryland City Recreation Council are excited that the county has begun working on the Maryland City Park baseball fields. This is a sign that spring will be here soon.
