Sydney Painter, of Laurel, a student at International Connections Academy Elementary School, an online private elementary school, was recognized by the Center for Talented Youth, a nonprofit at Johns Hopkins University.
One of 33,000 students from more than 60 countries who participated in the CTY Talent Search, Sydney took above-grade-level tests, which identified her academic talent and revealed gaps between her academic program and her actual capacity for learning. She was among the 30 percent of students who earned an invitation to the CTY Awards ceremonies and was individually honored for her academic performance and potential at a ceremony at Johns Hopkins University.
