The Laurel Volunteer Fire Department invites the community to the 41st annual Memorial Day Service on Sunday, May 29 at 11 a.m. at Historic Ivy Hill Cemetery on Sandy Spring Road in Laurel.
Started by the department and auxiliary in 1975, the program brings together the Laurel Police Department, Laurel Volunteer Rescue Squad and American Legion Post 60, as they remember those who died in their organization and place a wreath at each memorial stone.
A luncheon will be served by the fire department's Auxiliary in the lower level of the fire station, 7411 Cherry Lane. In the case of inclement weather, the service will be held at the Laurel Volunteer Fire Department.
