The city has created weight restrictions to avoid further damage from heavy vehicles traveling on Dorset Road. Vehicles that weigh more than 26,000 pounds will not be allowed to cross the damaged area, and restriction signs have been posted, city officials said.Drivers of vehicles that exceed the weight limit will receive a warning from the Laurel police, and will be ticketed for a second offense.

City officials said the repair work could require Dorset Road be closed temporarily.
