Members of the Laurel Police Department really like Dunkin' Donuts. In fact, several of them occupied the roof of the Route 1 shop over the weekend for 31 hours.
But it was for a good cause.
The annual Cops on Rooftops event is held to raise money for Special Olympics Maryland. This year, the Laurel operation raised about $4,700, according to Sgt. Eric Lynn.
"It was a little bit lower than previous years," Lynn said Monday, citing their figures of between $5,000 and $10,000 in the past. "But we had a blast. We always do."
Lynn said donations can still be brought to the Laurel Police Department or given through the Cops On Rooftops website, CopsOnRooftops.com.
