Center offers Tinsel and Treasures, Lego event, coat giveaway, senior activities [North Laurel/Savage]

There is something for everyone happening at the North Laurel Community Center. On Nov. 15, they are holding Tinsel and Treasures: Gifts, Crafts and Home Fair. The fair runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and has lots of gifts to start your holiday shopping. The event is free for shoppers. Call the center at 410-313-0390 for more information or questions. Brick Nation will be hosting a Lego event on Nov. 15 and 16 at the center. It will run 10:30 a.m. till 4 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday. Families can participate in Lego building activities, join in competitions and check out vendors from around the country. These events are not just fun, they bring awareness that Lego building uses STEM skills, science, technology, engineering and math when playing. All proceeds will go to Wounded Warrior Project. A big congratulations to Owen Pochettino, a North Laurel resident who is the 2014 Eagle Scout Project of the Year winner. Owen had 600 trees planted in the Patuxent River State Park to improve watershed and stream health to help our bay. Way to go, Owen.

Savage United Methodist Church will hold its Fall Festival on Nov. 8, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Come get some homemade goodies, check out the yard sale, vendors and crafts. The church is located at 9050 Baltimore St.

A free coat giveaway at the North Laurel Community Center will be held on Nov. 8, 9 a.m. and run until 1 p.m. There will be coats for men, women and children. Sponsors are the North Laurel Community Center, Howard County School System Pupil Personnel Services and the Howard County PTA Council.

Sign up now with the North Laurel 50+ Center for all the November events. On Nov. 14, learn safety tips from Howard County Fire and Rescue. This is a free event and starts at 10 a.m.

Learn a new art form with a Zentangle Demo on Nov. 19 at 10 a.m.

Nov. 21 will be an Art Workshop on Glass Bead Necklaces starting at 9:30 a.m. $7 covers all materials. Please register for the programs by calling 410-313-0380. The 50+ Center is located in the North Laurel Community Center.

Resurrection of Our Lord's annual Christmas Winterland Bazaar is on Nov. 14, 5 to 8 p.m. and Nov. 15 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Santa will be there as well as the restaurant café, a silent auction, handmade gifts, a kid's room, bake sale and more. The church is at 8402 Brock Bridge Road.

Nov. 11 is the chat and chew with the administrators at Guilford Elementary School starting at 6 p.m.

Nov., 19 is coffee with the administration at Bollman Bridge Elementary School starting at 8:45 a.m.
