We have a new Community Resource Officer assigned to our area from the Howard County Police Department. It is Erik Gillenwater.

Do you know a girl who needs a role model? Why not attend an event sponsored by Girl Scout Troop 1508 as they host a female-focused career fair at the North Laurel Community Center on Nov. 9.
The event will be held 3 to 6 p.m. and is free to the community. Come out and learn from women in many career fields discuss their careers with the girls in our community.
Last chance to sign up for the Savage 7K and 1 mile Historic Walk on Oct. 5. The run will start at 7:45 a.m. and the walk at 10 a.m. at the Carroll Baldwin Hall and Common. Enjoy an early autumn day as you go through the historic town and park. There will be food and music afterwards. Fees are $26 online and $30 by mail or in person. The Hammond High Green Team will clean up the school property and surrounding area on Oct. 16. Bring your work gloves and help Hammond shine. Kids are back at school and you have some free time on your hands? Why not volunteer to help drive seniors to appointments, shopping and other errands? Children are welcome to join you and schedules are flexible.
