New leadership takes over in local schools [North Laurel/Savage]

As the school year ends, the time has become for many administrators to move to a new school for the next school year. There have been quite a few changes in this area.

Jonathan Davis has served Bollman Bridge as Principal. He will be leaving to run Guilford Elementary. Assistant Principal Rhonda Inskeep at Laurel Woods will become the new Principal at Bollman Bridge. Vanya Jackson, a team leader at Cradlerock, will come to Laurel Woods as the new Assistant Principal. Genee Varlak was Guilford's Principal and will now be at Forest Ridge. Anne Swartz, Principal at Forest Ridge will be leaving to be Principal at Wilde Lake Middle School. Sue Nickles, who is Assistant Principal at Fulton, will be leaving to be an Assistant Principal at Ilchester, while Tony Esposito will come to Fulton as Assistant Principal from Elkridge.

Robert Motely will be leaving Patuxent Valley Middle School as Principal to run Glenwood Middle. Micah Humbert has come from Harford County to be Principal at Patuxent Valley. JoAnn Hutchens will become Atholton High School's new Principal. Brian Sackett did a great job as the Administrative Sub and he will be leaving to be the Assistant Principal at Howard High. Mikaela Lidgard has come to Hammond High as the new Assistant Principal from being a Special Education teacher. Joshua Sullivan, a Special Ed Teacher at Reservoir High has taken over as their Activities and Athletic Manager replacing retiring Ken Klock.

The Girls on the Run team at Hammond Elementary School helped collect food for animals at the Howard County Animal Shelter. Great job girls! The food was greatly appreciated.

There will be a new program coming to North Laurel. It's the North Laurel Tigers Football and Cheer teams. Coaches are experienced and have had background checks. Children will be placed on teams based on their age, weight, an evaluations and team requirements. Cheerleaders will be placed based on age and experience. Practices will begin at the beginning of August. They will be 5 nights a week till school starts and then 3 nights a week.
