Friday, June 19 is the last day of school and I want to wish all the students a happy and healthy summer. Please remember that kids are out of school and watch for children playing in the community. Also, if you plan to move this summer, please let the schools know now. Planning is underway for next year and they need to know how many students will be in the schools. Aug. 24 is the first day of school for the 2015-16 school year.

Murray Hill Middle School's Orchestra held a benefit concert for Grassroots. Great job by their instructor, Jay Kim, for encouraging his students to use their musical talent to better our community.

Cameron Hyder loves to play baseball. That is his passion. When he will younger, his dad made him a baseball field in the backyard. That was until he started hitting the ball out of that park. He plays on travel teams and as a freshman made the varsity team at Reservoir High, even with 13 returning seniors. Not only did he make the team but he played in every game. Although he did not pitch this year, his favorite position, he played in left field. As a team player, he is willing to play any position the team needs him to play. Since it's summertime, he has finished baseball at Reservoir and is now playing travel. Cameron also plays on the hockey team at school and made the All-County Hockey Team his first year. What an excellent first year. Makes you wonder how well he will do when he is in his senior year. The O's could use his help.

Happy Father's Day to all the hardworking Dads out there. Many times we take our Dads for granted so take some time and thank him for everything he does for you and your family. Happy birthday to Melissa McCullough, who turned 3.
