There are some special programs happening at the Savage Library this month.
On April 27, at 6:30 p.m., there is a library art club for teens so they can be creative while discussing books. There is a writer's group for adults meeting at April 13, 7 to 9 p.m.
There will be blood pressure screening on April 13, 10 a.m. till noon. "So you want to start a blog" will be on April 16, 7 to 9 p.m. On April 22, starting at 7 p.m. learn how to make your own rain garden.

Reservoir High School has an outstanding DECA program. DECA is an organization that helps prepare students to become leaders in the marketing, finance, hospitality and management fields while in high school and college.
Not only did the school win first place as the Outstanding Chapter, buttook 34 first place awards, 10 second place and six third place awards recently at the state conference. A very big congratulations to all the students and their coaches, Deb Dear and Linda Pchelka.
The Southern Howard County Civic Association has been created and will hold its first meeting on April 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the North Laurel Community Center, at 9411 Whiskey Bottom Road, in Laurel.
The president of the group is Bibi Perotte-Foston, who was president of the North Laurel Civic Association. This group decided that there are many issues that unite the southern part of Howard County and did not want to be divided, so they are working together to try and improve the quality of life here in the area. Any resident of the county is more than welcome to attend.
Spots are going quickly so sign up today for the Community Yard Sale sponsored by Girl Scout Troop 1508 and generally sells out. Spaces are $15, rain or shine. The sale will be on May 2, 8 a.m. to noon.

The Boy Scouts of America meet Monday evenings, 7 to 9 p.m., at the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. It's is a co-ed program for children 14 years or older who enjoy the outdoors. Contact info@msar616.com to learn more. They are affiliated with Maryland Search and Rescue Inc.
The Savage Boys and Girls Club is registering now for baseball. Coach Adam Leader of the Reservoir Gators will conduct a free Coach and Player Clinic this season. Ages 5 to 14 can register at ww.Savagebgc.org or call Ken Harn at 443-605-6977.
The Girl Scouts will hold a Paddington Bear Teddy Bear and Me Tea on April 19 at the North Laurel Community Center for girls on Pre-K, Kindergarten and first grade. Cost is $10 in advance and $12 at the door. To find out more, contact Gay Williams at gaywilliams12@gmail.com.
