It's all happening at the North Laurel Community Center [North Laurel/Savage]

The North Laurel Community Center is ground zero for activities, including several new programs starting.

The Spring Egg Hunt is March 29 at 3 p.m. for children ages 2 to 10. Bunny Tracks is a scavenger hunt program for all ages. You receive a pedometer and water bottle as well as light refreshments. This runs 10:30 a.m. to noon.

The center will have two new drop-in programs. One is Social Sandbox for 2- to 5-year-olds. This is free to center members, Tuesday and Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to noon. There is drop-in basketball, billiards, ping pong, volleyball and teen zone. These are free for members or $5 for non-members.

Book your spot now for the community yard sale at the community center. This is sponsored by Girl Scout Troop 1508 and generally sells out. Spaces are $15, rain or shine. The Girl Scouts will hold a Paddington Bear Teddy Bear and Me Tea on April 19 at the community center for girls in pre-K, kindergarten and first grade. Cost is $10 in advance and $12 at the door. To find out more, contact Gay Williams at gaywilliams12@gmail.com.

The Southern Howard County Civic Association has been created and will hold its first meeting on April 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the community center.

Come to Rita's in Kings Contrivance on April 1. Ten percent of the proceeds will go to support Bollman Bridge Elementary School.

McDonald's donated $10,000 to Howard High in honor of Jody Zepp, Maryland Teacher of the Year. Funds are being used to support Advanced Placement initiatives to help students earn college credits while in high school.

Graduation dates have been announced for Howard County schools. Reservoir will graduate on May 21 at 8 p.m. Atholton will graduate on May 26 at noon. Hammond High will be May 28 at 4 p.m. Congrats to the class of 2015.
