While its main library undergoes renovation work, the Howard County Library's Savage branch will open a temporary location Aug. 26.

The "express" library will be located in the shopping center at the intersection of Route 1 and Gorman Road. Visitors will be able to check out a small selection of popular books, pick up reserves and drop off books at the location. The temporary library will offer some HiTech and children's courses.

The library will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. The library will offer Sunday hours, from 1 to 5 p.m., starting Sept. 8.

Renovations to the main Savage Branch library are expected to be complete in September 2014. The improved library will be 50 percent larger and will feature an open floorplan, additional windows and two outdoor classrooms.
