Giddings and McDaniel graduated in May from Mercer University's Walter F. George School of Law. They lived in the same downtown Macon apartment building and were neighbors, according to The (Macon) Telegraph.

McDaniel, who has been in police custody since July 1, was arrested in August and charged with killing Giddings, a 27-year-old who graduated from Atholton High School in 2002. Her dismembered torso was found in a trash can near their apartment building on June 30, according to The Telegraph.
