An 11-year-old boy in Laurel was thrown from his bicycle Saturday when he was hit from behind by a minivan whose driver then fled the scene, Anne Arundel County police said.
The boy was hospitalized at Johns Hopkins Pediatrics Emergency Department with non-life-threatening injures, and is listed as stable.
He was riding his bike with his father, going with the flow of westbound traffic, in the 3500 block Whiskey Bottom Road when he was hit, at about 6:30 p.m., police said. The westbound side of that block does not have a sidewalk.
Instead of pulling over, the driver continued westbound toward Brock Bridge Road, police said.
A search was unsuccessful for the vehicle — described as an old, red minivan with tinted windows and possibly damage to its front from the collision. Anyone with information may contact Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7LOCKUP.
