One man died during a house fire in Laurel Monday, and three Prince George’s County Fire Department firefighters were transported to local hospitals for evaluation.
At around 7:30 a.m., Prince George’s firefighters were dispatched to the 16000 block of Bond Mill Road in Laurel for a house fire. Upon arrival, crews found a two-story single family house with fire showing/excessive storage conditions and the first floor partially collapsed.
Montgomery County Fire Department, Howard County Fire and EMS services and Anne Arundel County Fire Department assisted with putting the fire out.
After conducting extensive exterior operations and making the interior safe for search crews, one man was located deceased on scene.
The fire took four hours to put out, and around 11:30 a.m. the majority of the fire was extinguished, Michael Yourishin, a spokesman for Prince George’s County Fire Department, said.
“Conditions on scene made it hard to tell when the fire was actually out,” Yourishin said. “The fire had a lot of fuel to keep fighting.”
As of 3:30 p.m., the fire department was still on the scene and planned to be there for awhile watching hot spots, due to the excessive storage conditions.
